Lucifer stood there puzzled as the raven opened the tome and placed the feather between the open pages. "What is the feather for?" He asked the bird and almost expected an answer to slip from its beak. He shrugged and stepped toward where the tome lay open. He examined the feather for a moment, admiring the shine from the light above. Do I dare touch it? What if it's a trick? With a small sigh he lifted the tome in one hand and reached for the feather. As his hand grew closer to touching it soft whispers came from behind him, saying his name and uttering the words 'remember who you are'. He whipped his head around and when he found nothing behind him he continued reaching for it. His fingers wrapped around and lifted the feather from the pages and a fierce gust of wind threw the tome from his hands and almost knocked him over in the process.
Moments later, Lucifer felt the wind wrap around him and lifted him from the floor. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and images flashed across his vision. Images of faces and places that were familiar but he couldn't remember them. One face stuck out clear as the shining moon, Aleria. Her features were younger and softer than they are now and her lips were forming words that came to him as whispers. 'Remember who you are, my dear brother. Remember me.'
Darkness swarmed him now. He felt emotions he had never felt for anyone. He felt the need to reach out into the darkness and find Aleria's hand and hold it tightly. Loneliness swept in and he felt as though his heart was being gripped tightly in two strong hands that were trying to tear it from his chest. When the darkness finally retreated he found himself laying on the floor with his hands placed over his chest firmly. He stood abruptly and all but lept to the mirror and was astounded that he looked different. His hair was more platinum than before and his once hazel eyes were now piercing gold. What in the name of Satan himself is going on. What just happened?
He moved quickly and with a purpose. He needed to find Aleria for he thought she could explain to him what the visions had meant. The doors he passed looked like a blur as he ran at full speed where he thought he could find her. He didn't even think to call out and ask the raven to lead him to its mistress or to even grab Cameron from where he was placed. Finally, when he was out of breath he found her. She was kneeling in front of a large tree seemingly unaware of his presence. "Your Grace.... I... Questions..." He huffed and couldn't make heads or tails of what he was trying to say.

Aleria looked up and stood as Lucifer stammered in front of her. The first things she noted were his eyes, and his hair. It would seem he has obtained it then, yes? she asked Caliga who flew down to perch in the branches above her.
Yes milady.
Turning back to the man in front of her, she bowed her head slightly, "I understand your confusion. Come. Walk with me."
Without waiting for a reply, she walked forward, along the glittering path that lead out of the Sanctuary. Once she was out of the stone ring she halted, turning to make sure that he is following her. Nodding mostly to herself, Aleria started off into the woods after brushing her fingertips over the hilt of each of her swords.
A little ways in, she stops yet again, this time jumping to sit in the V between a tall branch and the trunk of an alder tree. "Lucifer," she begins, not even waiting for him to get settled before speaking, "you must understand that I cannot reveal everything to you. You must discover your past for yourself. I only exist here to help your journey."
She smiled slightly behind her mask, and inclined her head towards Lucifer, "Now, about what do you wish to inquire?"

Still recovering from the long run he panted trying to breath normally again. He rested his hands against his knees and bent forward. "The feather... When I touched it I saw things... People. They all looked familiar, like I know them from somewhere... Yet I can only recall one. It was yours. You whispered to me to remember who I am, who you are and you called me brother. Why? Why the feather? What does it have to do with me remembering my past." He paused and stood up to look at her. "Why now, after all these years have I been able to remember things? Least of all you?" So many questions flew through his mind but his lips picked and chose which ones to speak. He waited a moment before adding another. "Why did you call me brother? Is that what I am to you?" Lucifer was trying to places the pieces together as best he could with the little amount he knew.

"Memory is a tricky thing, is it not?" Aleria smirked before adding, "and they last with us, no matter how many lifetimes we go through. Before, you did not have the tools necessary to unlock your memory. You were among humans. You were not among the correct people for your memories to awake. But now you are here. And I have waited a long time for your return."
Her smile was cryptic behind the mask, "And my brother you shall be. Not now, perhaps, but soon. Soon you shall be. You are nearly him."
Aleria jumped down from the tree, "Continue to tread your path, and more will come to you. Time will bring everything back. And here. Perhaps this will help as well."
The woman held out a hand, opening it to reveal another glistening black feather. "I should warn you, that there is no way to turn back. Everything will come back to you now, gradually, yes, but unstoppable. Any more questions?"

Lucifer hesitated to touch the feather this time. He kept his hands by his sides as she held it out to him. "What do the feather do? Or rather... Why are they helping?" He asked before covering his hand with his sleeve and holding it out to receive the feather. He examined it closely, noting that it was the same shade and length of the last as if they came from the same place. Where is she getting them from? He thought to himself as he reached over with his other hand to grasp it.
This time there was no wind only darkness. It engulfed him quickly, wrapping around him like living tendrils. Lucifer felt like he was suffocating when suddenly another vision. Only this time he was running toward two figures who seemed to be upset about something he didn't understand. One of the figures looked over to him, she looked saddened with deep regret and he knew it was her again. This vision changed and he was no longer looking up at her, running toward her, he was now a spectator as they exchanged worried looks. In this vision he was only a child, a small platinum blond haired child. He looked so helpless in the situation. 'Please don't leave me sister...' He thought he heard but he couldn't make out her reply. Before he could see more, the vision changed again and he was back inside the child, looking down on her as she fell. He knew then that she was falling from Heaven.
Instead of darkness taking hold again when the images vanished all Lucifer could see was light. He felt blinded and couldn't control his blinking. Seconds past and his eyesight returned, allowing him to see Aleria still standing in front of him. He knew he shouldn't have, but he turned his back to her. The loneliness from before was caused by her. She left me there alone that day... What happened... He didn't understand so he turned to look at her again and asked, "Why did you fall?"

"The feathers are physical representations and manifestations of your memories," she said flatly, her expression vacant.
Aleria's mind went back to the day she'd fallen. It had been a beautiful day in the Garden of Eden. She had been playing with the fox and the raven as usual, when her Father called her. She should have realized it was odd. As she learned more, gained more power, she was called less and less, felt her Father slowly letting her slip from his mind. He had stopped caring. He only ever called her if he needed some task done. Aleria had assumed that this is why he called her then, but she was wrong. Her power had become too much, it threatened the Father. He had tried to take it, but was unable. He thought it was defiance, so he cast her out.
The Fallen shook her head to dispel the haze of memory clouding her mind. Silently, she sat down at the base of the same tree as before. She knew very well that the full story would come to light someday, that he would remember. Looking up at him, she could see confusion, and the ache of loneliness in his eyes. The woman had to give Lucifer some answer, something that could spark his memory.
"I became a threat."
Perhaps it was not the most useful explanation, but it would do for now. The rest of the feathers would be for him to find, since that was the last that she had. Until he was ready for his wings, all she could do was find triggers for the locked pieces of his past.
Ria, why don't you just tell him already? Xaeir muttered impatiently.
He would not believe me. This is something he must discover for himself, as I did.

Lucifer was still confused about the feathers. He just couldn't understand how a simple feather could help. "Thank you... For helping me." He said softly, under his breath. He walked over to her and placed a hand upon her shoulder without thinking. "I do not understand now, but I know that I will one day. But I just cannot understand how you could be threat enough to be cast out of such a place as that. Wouldn't power be a value there? A defense?" He stopped himself from saying any more as he felt he was upsetting the woman. He just stood there in silence with his hand on her shoulder trying to be comforting.

Smiling sadly, Aleria stood and clapped a hand to her companions bicep. "I am glad to help. And you will come to realize how threatening such a thing as power may be."
With that, she turned and began walking back, occasionally stopping to observe a tree, or a small animal. "You must always keep your eyes open. Opportunities may present themselves when we least expect them."
Caliga swooped in behind them, perching above his mistress' head once again. Milady, will you take him there? It would be the quickest way for him.
Not yet. when he has his wings. Then we shall travel. Turning back to look at Lucifer over her shoulder, "We should return. I am sure you must be hungry."

"Starved." Lucifer replied as he followed closely behind her. I wonder what else is in store for me when I finally remember everything about the past. Maybe all of this will help me understand why I am the way I am. His thoughts were running wild again. He wasn't used to all the sudden change, or looking at the woman in front of him in a new light. He didn't know how to act around her anymore. All this was new to him. He never felt as welcome as he does now.

Deciding to walk back, Aleria picked a moderate pace as they walked through the forest. Soon, the stone ring of the Citadel came into view, and she inhaled deeply. A foggy mist formed at the entrance, eventually taking a vaguely human shape. Ghostly tendrils of hair and the outline of a suit could be distinguished on the apparitions form.
"Majesty," the voice was naught but a whisper on the wind, "the dining room has been prepared."
Aleria nodded, "Thank you. Have you prepared anything for our guests?"
"We... we did not realize, Majesty. We thought that they were like you," the ghost stammered.
Dismissing the remark with a vague wave of her hand, she turned back to Lucifer, "Is there anything you would like to eat? The staff will prepare whatever it is you wish to eat."
"Take his order, I will be to the dining room shortly," she continued as she brushed past the apparition who quickly nodded and came to float in front of Lucifer.

Lucifer stared at the apparition as he thought of what he wanted to eat. As he said to her he was starved, but he couldn't choose what he wanted, there were so many choices. Before he took all night he shook his head and smiled at the apparition. "Mashed potatoes, pork chops and corn on the cob, please and thank you. He smiled and felt his stomach grumble with anticipation of the meal he would soon be consuming. A filling meal this will be. The first decent meal I will have eaten in over a decade.

Aleria smiled as she walked into the Sanctuary. Immediately, she leaped up to the balcony, and dashed off to her room. Taking only a couple seconds to unlock her door, she stepped in and discarded her coat onto the back of her chair and the outer layer of her armour. Going upstairs she changed into dark jeans, re-affixing the holsters over the rough fabric, and took off the tall armbands she wore on her arms, underneath her armour. Once they were gone, she put on her plain black leather bracers, and bands that went around her upper arm. Finally, she picked up the cincher-like belt, made of black leather and silver buckles and did it up over top of her shirt. She left her fans on the desk, and instead strapped Xaeir to her hip, one blade on top of the other. The mask was left on the chair, and she grabbed a shorter jacket, being sure to pull the hood low over her face, keeping her mis-matched eyes hidden.
Milady, shall I show our guest to the dining room? Caliga inquired, hovering by the door.
"Please do. I will be joining you there soon."
Feeling complete, she exited her chambers once again, and the Fallen began to make her way to the dining room.
